Yes, there are two different Tapestry 4.0 annotation packages. The *proper* one is in CVS head, and will be part of Tapestry 4.0-beta-1, which will be available soon.
I haven't seen the source for the other annotation package, but it required some configuration in order to operate. The proper tapestry-annotation JAR just needs to be on the classpath. The other change is that LaughingPanda tries to tackle the abstract class issue in Tapestry, whereas the project's annotations are applied to abstract accessors and other methods.
