Francis's questions seem more naive than obnoxious.
Lots of great work has been going on - and is still
going on - driving Tapestry towards 4.0 release.
Hardly signs of an "abandoned" project.
At the same time development efforts like Trails and
the new AJAX components available bring some of the
strengths we see in other web frameworks to Tapestry.
Howard seems as committed and driven as ever,
but it's the community effort that convinces me
of Tapestry's health and popularity.
Cheers,
Nick.

Ok, now this is just obnoxious. I think Rails is
great, too. In fact I think it's so wonderful that I
am investing considerable amounts of time and effort
attempting to bring over as many of the great ideas of
Rails into Java as I can. I see Howard in some ways
doing the same thing with his embracing of annotations
to make XML files unnecessary. I'm building Trails
using Tapestry, because it's simply the best web
component framework that I could find.
You make it sound like we should have everyone pass
some sort of McCarthyesque litmus test: "Are you now
or have you ever been involved in any *gasp* Rails
activity? Do you swear allegiance to Java in
perpetuity?". Give me a break.

Hi all,
Recent views expressed by Howard on his blog and
discussions on the net
makes me question the future of Tapestry. He is
sounding more and more pro
Ruby on Rails and a bit anti Java. So the question
is would Tapestry end up
along the way like one of those abandoned OS
projects with no development
activity whatsover? This is something I think worth
thinking about by we
Tapestry users. To be honest, I'm taking a serious
look at Wicket now.
What do you think?
Francis
