Incidentally, there is a generic "ListPropertySelectionModel" available on tassel http://equalitylearning.org/Tassel/app?service=external/ViewComponent&sp=SListPropertySelectionModel
It uses the interface approach; classes which implement the interface must implement the "public String getItemName" method.
