Will, if your an EOF guy, you will definitely want to look at Cayenne. It's modeled on EOF and has the CayenneModeler, which is essentially their version of EOModeler.

Sounds like you are committed to Hibernate at this point,

Not really. I'm personally rather committed to WO+EOF. But with a vendor that does not give a .... about his only enterprise product it's pretty hard to sell this technology to the real world :-/

but if not you
might consider Cayenne.

I have looked at that too and personally I think I would prefer it. And once more I have to give in and try to deliver what the customers request.

Concerning my problems, I decided to take one step back and try to solve them with small test apps before I try to integrate the whole shebang. Then I did also find these links that might be worth looking at:
https://betterpetshop.dev.java.net/
https://trails.dev.java.net/
http://raibledesigns.com/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=AppFuse

So I'll be looking at the books and tutorials and won't be cluttering the list with newbie questions for a while! Yippie! ;-)

Thanks for the help tough.
