Ok, after some testing I've narrowed down the problem to the
following parameters:

A value to be added to the x position of this view

it. This affects the apparent rotation point of the view, as well as

<parameter name="xScale">

When I commented out the setXScale parameter (and corresponding java
code) it complained about XOffset, when I commented that one out it
complained about YScale, so I commented out both YScale and YOffset
and the component works as it should. Can anyone see anything wrong
with these declarations?
