Please Help in creating session object

Hi All,
            I need help in How to create a session object after I successful
logged into. What n all code needs to be added in my .page, .java to be
added and also is that some .xml file is required or not for the same.
 
Please somebody respond to that, I have already tried implementing the
solution what is given in chaper1-4.pdf, but it didn't work. So can anybody
help me out in giving some other solution for the same.
