Those changes don't sound to me any worse than 3.0 to 4 migration. I really like the ideas of SPI and XPI. Also since tapestry has tons of test, I'm sure we can imagine that tapestry would include ways of testing the services and extensions. And I second Michael... the most important would be documentation for migration... I don't really care changing the inheritance of my classes or moving properties and code somewhere else until it is documented.
