Hi Frank, I deliberated over which to get - hardcopy or pdf for quite some time, and in the end opted for the pdf version for several reasons.
1. You get the pdf immediately, yep - as soon as you pay, you get an email telling you how to get hold of it. 2. No shipping costs of a hardcopy. 3. You can copy and paste from a pdf - e.g. code examples where you try typing it in but you miss something "tiny" that stops the whole thing working properly. - You can just copy and paste the code extracts from the pdf. 4. It is actually not bad to read at all. I think that to start with I struggled, but you soon get used to the concept - particularly if you have a dual monitor configuration - something I have just acquired and makes it even easier (you can look at the "book" as you code). 5. You are notified of any mistakes etc and directed to a new version to download every so often. 6. Assuming you comply with all copyright etc laws, there is the potential to produce a hardcopy of areas that you explicitly want to see on paper. 7. you can "search" through an e-book for things really really easy - text based word matching for instance - this is something a real paper book will never be able to match. In short, I purchased the e-book, and it really is good. well worth the money I would say.
