Subject: deployment issues
Why do I have to restart Tomcat to see any changes to my apps? I know that
you would need to do this if you changed the page class, but I understood
that Tapestry would pick up changes automagically if you updated the .html
files or the .page files. It will cause problems if our designers can’t
deploy content changes that they make without restarting.
I feel I should tell you about our server set up because it might be
important in answering this question. On my local machine I am running both
Apache httpd and Tomcat. I have to go to port 8080 to see my Tapestry stuff
(another issue I have to sort out). The system is currently configured so
that httpd serves html files (as well as php files) and Tomcat handles jsp
files. Or at least I think it does. We have no experts here. The
configuration is similar on the staging and live servers.
If you feel like helping and you need me to clarify, I would be glad to.
Thanks in advance,
Rob Dennett
