If you *shudder* at tiles, whats your solution for that problem then ? - if you, say, want to build a web-newspaper and have only in 1 place defined the look ? ( yes, i saw the emoticon :P )
but seriously: do we have any alternative to tiles - and if yes, is there a howto or sth. else without the need to strip equinox?
