Thanks Bob, but as I said in my original post I'd already skimmed the sources of some of the helper scripts for the answer to my question. I'm not looking to reinvent the wheel (or a back-up script). At this point I'm just looking for a single, simple command to delete manually the cruft that has built up over the last four months, due to my inattention and desire to get Tarsnap doing the minimum I needed it to do (back-up!) when I started using it four months ago. I probably should use ACTS, since it's the most recently updated of the shell scripts on the list. I may take a closer look at it, but at this point a single line in my script should do all I really need. Thanks again. Craig
