I got a lot from his early guitar style, which was pretty traditional
"Carter Family" . The stuff that Mickie Most produced 1966/69 netted
some of Donovan's best songwriting, but unfortunately, he took the
flower power stuff a bit too seriously, and there was some pretty
silly stuff as well..."I Love my Shirt".

It was in the "Hurdy Gurdy Man" sessions that John Paul Jones first
hit up Jimmy Page for a slot in his new group which was formerly the
Yardbirds.....

John Paul Jones is a fine mandolin player and record producer. Eric
Clapton and Jeff Beck were fine guitarists for the Yardbirds. No
comment on Jimmy Page. I wish him well.

Dan

BTW - The Mrs. still likes a Donovan song here and there, but much
prefers what I'm doing with "Black's Run" on the octave mandolin.
Thanks, Tater !!
