A friend of mine when conducting a beginning fiddle workshop said this to a group fiddling "Black-Eyed Suzie", and it has stuck with me - The secret of playing fiddle is to make it sound as good as it feels.
This has stuck with me, and is really really hard to do, but sometimes it happens.
