Over the last few months, I have found a few resources that I wanted to share
with you all.

First, is a book that I just received from Amazon.com called Country Music
Originals
http://www.amazon.com/Country-Music-Originals-Legends-Lost/dp/0195325095/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231345212&sr=8-1

It has biographical information on lost of old-time musicians and gives a list
of available music for each one. It covers guys such as Eck Robertson, Charlie
Poole, Gid Tanner, John Dilleshaw, Ernest Stoneman, Asa Martin, The Carter
Family, Jimmie Rodgers, J.E. Mainer among many, many more.

--------------------------------------------------------

Second, is a book called the "Rural Roots of Bluegrass."
http://www.amazon.com/Rural-Roots-Bluegrass-Stories-History/dp/0786671343/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231345483&sr=1-1
I picked it up used on Ebay for $8.

It includes the melody and chords for a number of old-time songs and a page or
two about the artists that covered them. It is kinda like the previous item,
but with actual notation and a less through list of musicians.

--------------------------------------------------------

Third, is a book called "Parking Lot Picker's Songbook, Mandolin Edition by Dix
Bruce"
http://www.amazon.com/Parking-Lot-Pickers-Songbook-Mandolin/dp/078667492X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231345767&sr=1-2

It has notation, chords and mandolin tab for more than 225 tunes, many of them
old-time. It includes songs covered by acts such as The Blue Sky Boys, The
Carter Family, Fiddlin' John Carson, Flatt and Scruggs, David Grisman, Woody
Guthrie, J.E. Mainer, Bill Monroe, Jim and Jesse, NBB, Osborne Brothers,
Charile Poole, The Skillet Lickers, Stanley Brothers, Uncle Dave Macon and Doc
Watson, among others. It is a good mix of Bluegrass, Old-Time, Country and
Gospel, and is spiral bound.
