Just had a birthday and got the Speed of the Old Long Bow and the Off the Record Monroe cd's, so I reckon I cleaned up - both are just crackers - what luminous tone Monroe had, and what rhythm - just astonishing. The liner notes of the Hartford one are something special - I play in a trio of guitar, mando, fiddle and all of us singing, and I reckon there are some things that will work to create tension and texture even with a small group. Anyone tried to apply the theory to their band? Would like to hear about it. Robin
