I've mostly heard stuff with his congregation (http://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=MkMFOOghAs0), but all of it has a old jazz sound ... but none where the mandolin has stood out. Maybe I need to listen to it all again. Anyway, there are a couple of cuts in the Black Gospel Classics (including "I'm pressing on ..." which is reminiscent of "When the saints ..." collection. The Goodbye Babylon collection has one of his, and Times ain't like they used to be has a couple. They are all pretty wild, and the GB cut has something akin to bones on it. You get a hefty dose of preaching along with the music usually. I'd be happy to send you a cut if you want to delve further. Haven't tried to translate any to mandolin and as I say I didn't track the mandolin on the recordings somehow. I've spent some time with Rev Roosevelt Graves stuff (I'll be rested, Woke up this morning ... trying to translate outrageous guitar to mandolin) but then I heard Mike do it and sort of despaired. Also tackled some Sister Rosetta Tharpe, which I might get somewhere with if I were shut up in the woodshed for a month or two. Anyway where was the track you were referring to? val
