Just found the video on YouTube via some other service. (I missed the
Tonight Show.) It's worth watching, if you haven't seen. Here be the

There are some exquisitely tasteful mandolin fills in this version of
"Sulfur to Sugarcane." It is soooo cool to see Mike playing these
venues. This makes me happier than a clam, and you all know how happy
clams are. This is a great thing for mandolin playing, for Mike, for
Monroe-style playing, and for just good, unpretentious, down-home
picking.

I, too, prefer the trimmed down ensemble, though I miss Jeff Taylor.
The only thing that would make it better would be some mandolin
solos!

I caught the show live in Telluride and liked it quite a bit, though
I'm not a huge Elvis fan. (Hell, I even bought the CD after hearing
the band live!) I like Stuart and Jerry, but I was disappointed that
they got the only solos in the show I saw. Big waste of talent in not
giving Mike and Jeff an opportunity to let 'er rip.

I expect Elvis to call me any time now and ask my critique; I assure
you all I shall set him straight.
