A rare weekend of no gigs planned for me; may get together with a
buddy and lay down some demos for our new forthcoming "album" ;) May
just pop a bottle of good red and watch Scooby Doo with the kids
instead.

If any of you want to get your feet wet in the recording arena:

I recently purchased a Tascam DP-004 four track digital recorder. I
love it; it's tiny runs on batteries, has some analog controls; decent
internal mics. I love the simplicity of it....I've messed around with
Pro Tools, Roland digital workstations, Audacity, Garageband etc...
all fine and good but a fairly steep learning curve and sometimes
expensive. Perhaps the ebst part of using the Tascam is you don't have
to be tethered to a computer.

You're not gonna make your next gold album with it but it's perfect
for laying down a quick demo or trying out a harmony lick or whatever.
Or really just recording yourself for learning purposes.

Street price about $199
