John, They sound tight and new, of course.<G> The body size is slightly smaller than the "official" version will be. There is ample midrange even at this point and lots of treble response. Plenty of volume and carrying power. Both seem to be lively and would open up pretty fast. I noticed that plugged in, the pumpkin mando had less of a crisp sound than the sunburst, which suited me more, but that's just my own taste. The neck on the pumpkin top is more comfortable to me because I am used to the "v" shape. The other is more of a rounded profile and completely playable. These are not F5's but their own thing, so I think it would be wise to approach them as such.
I'm really looking forward to getting the new one and seeing "what's what".
