I once had very sore ears after constant gigs with a 'volume chaser'. The guy was a great player but his constant need to be 'loud' meant that we had to be forever raising our volume to be heard or be drowned out (self mixed & I was on guitar). After 4 shows per day, 6 days per week for 6 months, my ears were cooked. I thought I'd done permanent damage and basically lived with ear plugs in for 3 months when I got home. No loud tv, music, yelling etc. One day they just came good, the pain went and I could hear without any disruption. A few years later (last year), I had my ears tested and surprisingly they're all good. My wife will disagree and swears that I don't hear her from time to time...oops. Nowadays, whenever I go to a large concert, I take the ear plugs with me to cut the wall of sound. I mistakenly forgot plugs once when we went & saw J Fogerty in Sydney. Everyone complained that it was the loudest ear piercing concert ever...and they were right. That took me a few days to get over the buzz. Protect your ears. Long live acoutsic music. Holstein ps. The JMB are unreal, what a group!
