Hi, we're using Jira as our issue tracker. I talked with Alan about this, and we've currently got some big "stories" that we are working on, like [T2-497] and [T2-496] to improve the workflow explorer.
As the issues/stories are very general, as a developer they are not easy to relate to. For instance, most commits lately (by me inclusive) [3] do NOT have a reference to a relating Jira issue. Alan will write some commit rules that will include that a commit should have a reference to a related Jira issue. To get this to work we would also need to split down these stories into smaller tasks in Jira, although this is a bit more work than just listing them on a wiki page, it makes it more structured, seeing what's assigned to who, etc. Alan will look at splitting down the stories we have, but it could be part of the job of the developer assigned the story to look at splitting it down and doing the perhaps boring Jira clicking. Alan is investigating if there's any Jira plugins that can help in this. A nice side benefit is that we would get nice, detailed release notes :-) [T2-497] http://www.mygrid.org.uk/dev/issues/browse/T2-497 [T2-496] http://www.mygrid.org.uk/dev/issues/browse/T2-496 [3] http://code.google.com/p/taverna/source/list -- Stian Soiland-Reyes, myGrid team School of Computer Science The University of Manchester ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities.
