No. I tried to write a wiki page to describe what is needed to add a
new type of service. It is at

There are much simpler alternatives to the query and partition
subdirectories in Taverna 2.1
I think it would be a good idea if someone other than the people who
wrote the original code, wrote an example.

A lot of the Taverna 2 code is done as plugins. For example,
net.sf.taverna.t2.activities.biomart-activity and
net.sf.taverna.t2.ui-activities.biomart-activity-ui together define a
plugin that extends Taverna to support BioMart services.

I found that doing some of the services for 2.1 using the simplified
structure was quite easy.
