The switch-over to using OSGi will happen after the release of 2.1. So
work will start at the end of this year but will mainly be done the
first quarter of next year.

We do. The main effect will be to switch from using Raven and
Taverna-specific extensions to Spring, to using an OSGi Framework and
the OSGi extensions to Spring (called Spring Dynamic Modules).

Using OSGi will give us a standard mechanism for classloader separation,
dynamic loading of plugins, inbuilt registration mechanism, and lots of
other good stuff.

It will also allow us to try out interesting things like using
Distributed OSGi to have the Taverna core split between different machines.
