Taverna 2.2 is the last release that will support Java 5;  the next release 
will be using Java 6.

I don't think we have a date planned for the next release yet but support for 
more scripting languages is likely to be included as that was the main 
motivation for moving to Java 6. The Jira issue is at 
http://www.mygrid.org.uk/dev/issues/browse/T2-896.

We also have an open issue specifically for Perl support 
(http://www.mygrid.org.uk/dev/issues/browse/T2-1295) but I think we would be 
reliant on a script engine being available for Perl (there doesn't seem to be 
one listed at https://scripting.dev.java.net/ yet).
