I can't replicate the problem.  When I did Verify it said (correctly) 
that there are two archetypes.  Can you check that you can see 
http://www.mygrid.org.uk/maven/repository/ in a browser and also 
http://www.mygrid.org.uk/maven/repository/archetype-catalog.xml
