Hi!

This is a message for users with commit access to the SVN for Taverna
and myGrid-labs.

Google has introduced some changes for Google Apps accounts so that
they are now also 'proper' Google account.

That means that [email protected] ( as accessed on
http://mail.mygrid.org.uk/ ) can use the same login for
https://www.google.com/accounts/ and any other Google product like
Youtube and PicasaWeb - and most notably for us - Google Code projects
like http://code.google.com/p/taverna/

Now the little challenge here is that as we started with this practice
years ago this linking was not yet the case - so any myGrid developer
also had to create a duplicate Google account with the same
@mygrid.org.uk email address - which was then added as a Google Code
member.

Now that the account changes has taken place, if you have an
@mygrid.org.uk account (which all committers should) - then you should
have received an email from Google.

If you didn't have the transitional Google Account as mentioned above,
everything is fine and should just work.

However, any of the existing committers would unfortunately find that
their logins don't work properly, as the accounts are in conflict.

For instance:
  [email protected]
would have had commit access to http://code.google.com/p/taverna/ but
would now find that his account has been renamed to:
  stian%[email protected],

I recommend all of you with conflicting accounts to go to
https://www.google.com/accounts/ - and add a new email address to be
used instead of this gtempaccount trick. As far as I understand, the
first time you log in using [email protected] you will be logging
into the 'old' account and asked to do precisely this - if this does
not work, try logging in using the @gtempaccount.com user account as
above, for instance if you used to be [email protected] - try
fred%[email protected] as username.

I recommend changing the primary address of the old account to simply
add +old or +svn, like:
   [email protected]

This old account we'll keep around as a 'Contributor' so that your old
commit history stays in SVN - but due to the + sign this account will
not work very well for new commits.

>From now on the old account would just be dormant. Now log out and in
again on https://www.google.com/accounts/ as [email protected] - the
password would be the same as http://mail.mygrid.org.uk/ which would
now be Single-sign-on together with Google Code.

You should now at https://code.google.com/hosting/settings be able to
see your generated SVN password to be used with username
[email protected]. Your SVN clients should kindly ask you about this
new password - if they get difficult try to delete the old account.
You should not need to check out code again as the checked out .svn
files don't contain user info.

If you have any troubles, such as not remembering the password for the
'real' @mygrid.org.uk account or not having access to the Google Code
project with the new account - contact me personally.

I do apologize for the inconvenience caused - but this is a global
change that Google are rolling out - and in the long run it's a good
thing.
