Hi all, I believe I've found a bug related to network connectivity. When launching Taverna 1.71 on Mac OS 10.5.7 while I have a wireless connection - so AirPort is on and connected to the local network - but no external network connectivity (local network connection to the outside world is spotty), Taverna's launch will hang indefinitely because it's trying to check for a new version. If I turn AirPort off, there's no problem whatsoever. The error message generated in the log follows:
6/6/09 3:56:00 AM [0x0-0x3e03e].Taverna[666] ERROR 2009-06-06 03:56:00,748 Unable to check for an updated Taverna version I would suggest that if/when updates are made to 1.71, the attempt to check for an updated version should not prevent the program from fully launching. A timeout might work well, but did not seem to be happening. In the meantime, is there a line that I can change in info.plist or some such to prevent it from happening again? My ability to remember and adjust for software peccadilloes can be woefully lacking at times.
