Does somebody know which ports does Taverna Server2 really need to be opened inside a virtual server? We closed all of them and we are opening one--by-one, so for now we opened 8080 for Tomcat. What more do we must do?
Incoming, you need one port (e.g., 8080 but it depends on your Tomcat configuration). Outgoing, you need to allow arbitrary connections. Within the machine, you need to make sure that port 1099[*] is open for local connections (alas, not just localhost connections though) so that workflow control instances and the webapp can find each other. You probably need other ports open to local connections too; I recommend using an external firewall instead of an "integrated" one if possible, so that you can be sure that the firewall is only affecting connections from the outside world.
I think the development version of the server has the port issue more sorted out, but it's not yet ready for general use.
