I think Alan has already established its my taverna installation and not
the workflow being as I can run things from the command line tool.

What database are you referring to?
Two other users reported a similar problem. It could be solved by
removing the database in which Taverna stores provenance information
(and perhaps data).
However, I would have expected a corrupt database to prevent you
running
any workflows. If you send me the input values, I can try to replicate
your problem.
