=============================
Taverna Workbench 3.0 Alpha 2
=============================
The myGrid team at University of Manchester are pleased to announce
Taverna Workbench 3 alpha 2.
http://www.taverna.org.uk/developers/work-in-progress/taverna-3/
This is an alpha release so does not have all the features that will be
in the final release. Some of the features NOT included in this release
are:
* Running and editing of R, BioMOBY and Tool services
* Editing of REST and XPath services
* The Service Catalogue and myExperiment perspectives
This release is intended for people who are interested in trying out the
new features and are happy running pre-release software. It should only
be used for testing; workflows produced with this version may not be
compatible with the final release version and are thus unsupported.
There is no application installer for the alpha release - unzip the
downloaded file and run the startup script taverna.sh (Linux or Mac) or
taverna.bat (Windows).
What's new in Taverna Workbench 3.0 alpha 2
-------------------------------------------
This second alpha release includes the capability to save and load
workflow runs as data bundles. This means that a workflow run and
its provenance can be shared with other users and other installations
of Taverna. The data bundle format is based on ZIP and JSON and is
intended to be parsed and created by third-party applications.
We are concurrently developing myExperiment to support sharing of such
workflow runs, including browsing of inputs, outputs and intermediate
values. Contact [email protected] if you would like to preview this
capability.
The SCUFL2 format in alpha 2 has changed since alpha 1. Definition of
Retry, Parallel jobs and
Looping have been modified. Thus opening .wfbundle workflows from
alpha 1 will not preserve
these settings once the workflow opens in alpha 2; such settings are
ignored. Taverna 2.x workflows settings however are preserved on
loading in alpha 2. For details, see
http://dev.mygrid.org.uk/wiki/display/developer/SCUFL2+API#SCUFL2API-0.13.0
The user interface for the Processor now supports editing of retries and
paralelll jobs.
Several other issues identified during testing of alpha 1 has been
fixed, for details, see the issue tracker:

This release coincide with an alpha version of the Taverna 3 Command
