I noticed the same thing and guess it's a feature.

I think it's database-related: suppose you are amending properties and
at the same time creating an email using this address-bokk entry. A
clash could happen. So they just blocked it.

On the other hand, if you want to enter a new address (or change an
existing one), you can copy the address first from whereever, and when
Properties are open, you can paste it there. What else would you want
to do with anything else while you are in Properties?
