I was finally able to send a message,
but I can't physically see what I was typing. And I have to put it in
the outbox, then send "queued mail" I tried changing the Language,
and the character sets but nothing helped.
It's also interesting to note that the cookies file failed because the
"\" is replaced with "/" in linux, So I made another account, and
pointed it to the same folder, and I *can* access all the mail (the
headers at least.) I think I still have a path problem. My windows
isn't on C: and it isn't in \windows and the other thing is my bat
isn't in \The Bat either, it's under \mail\0\thebat and then my
accounts aren't where they are supposed to be either, they are under
\mail\account name LOL so maybe it's time to backup and reinstall the
bat from a stock distro. With the stock paths. However, reinstalling
windows on another drive like C: isn't an option. (got to much tied
up in that and I don't want to waste 3 days.)
I can't see what is actually typed in the messages. I
can't get a black text and a white background working correctly, maybe
it's white on white, except I can see the ">" quotes and all 1st
letters on the beginning of each line, so I am hesitant to believe
that it may be a white on white problem just yet . Also, I can't save
the new account I created to access the mail with. So each time That I
test this out, I have to create a new account. (not a big problem
though)
I also noticed that if I queue some text, like say when your going to
cut n paste, I can read one letter at a time inside the message. It's
difficult, but possible to read a message this way. Also I get big
time lockups on certain messages. Where wine or the bat or something
stops responding altogether, but a CTRL-C in the Terminal solves that
problem. It's a slightly nasty problem.
It's probably hard for folks to visualize what Im saying about the
invisible text, but it looks like this (pretend this is a message your
reading):

See there is nothing in the message, except the first character on the
beginning of each new line. You can imagine typing a message
without seeing what you type. That's how I sent that other message.
It did send though, that's a good thing!
BUT.. I will say this, it's a start! Since I couldn't get this far at
all before. It definitely shows sign's of hope. And my next hump is
to try to figure out why there is no text (I mean only some) showing.
BTW- I am using the 3dFX server for my 3DFX Voodoo 3 2000 card, maybe
that has something to do with it. thanks for the help, I think that
wine.conf I had downloaded was doing just the same, but I went ahead
and edited yours and replaced my /.winerc and /etc/wine.conf with the
new edited ones. (since you got yours with the latest distro)
I still can't connect to that damn www.winehq.com server..
