Greetings -- After reading the recent reports by the brave souls who installed the alpha when it was first released, I decided to take the plunge. For the most part, so far so good -- but I have run into two problems.
1) In order to try the new IMAP code, I deleted my (seldom-used) AIM (AOL) account, including the mail files, and re-established it as an IMAP account. While the basic IMAP and SMTP functions both worked, The Bat's system resource use gradually climbed until it was using over 80% of my CPU power. Tried it twice to verify the problem, and finally ended up deleting the IMAP account and reverting to POP. By comparison, even with 7 POP email accounts all in use at once, The Bat's CPU use runs about 2%. 2) Version 5.0.0.107 ignores my choice to "Mark message as read only when it is open in a separate window," and instead marks it as read as soon as I select it for display in the preview window. Confirmations, anyone? Should I file bug reports on either or both of these? Incidentally, the (much-improved!) URL Manager, now apparently called the Image Manager, has one Cyrillic label at the top of the menu to the right of the lower window. I have only been using this new version for a few hours, but so far, I have not run across any problems other than those already mentioned here. Great job, RITLab programmers! IMHO this version looks very promising. -- Regards, Morton A.
