Just checked it. "In-Reply-to" is not mandatory nor even optional for usenet usage - it's clearly described in RFC 1036. Then I'm afraid that no newsreader supports it, but it sound strange to me that you have threading problems. My newsreader threads everything as it's supposed to be.
