I searched archive of 5.0 alpha and workaround is available already:

[*] A registry option to select HTML Charset priority for the viewer (debug
only). You can add a DWORD registry variable HtmlCharSetPriority with value
1 under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat! to make MIME charset have
precedence over html header charset.
