Check  the  account  directory of your imap account and see whether it
contains  a  SENT  directory.  That should contain your old local sent
mail.

Close TB
Copy  the  contents  of  your  local  sent  directory to the directory
matching that common folder
Start TB
Open your common folder

Yes. You tell TB to link a name to a remote folder in stead of a local
folder, so it links that name to said remote folder, no problem.

That's  the  same  as  telling  your  boss you've moved to a different
location  and  that  you  want  him  to send your paycheck to that new
location  (not unreasonable in itself) and then expect him to offer to
bring your wallet to your new home.
