Does this fix only refer to admin users on XP or to restricted users as well? I hate to be that guy, but I still see this error message and I'm working as a restricted user on XP SP3. I observe the following: 1) I open Preferences and click on any of the categories on the left hand side of the dialog _except_ "Applications". I don't make any changes to any setting. Just click on the categories. Closing Preferences via OK-button works. 2) I open Preferences and click on any of the categories on the left hand side of the dialog _including_ "Applications". I don't make any changes to any setting. Just click on the categories. Closing Preferences via OK-button closes this dialog but gives the error message. When I'm Admin, I can do everything written above without any error message at the end.
