I'm not seeing numerous log messages at the bottom of the screen (the server conversation log) but I do have your other side effects.
I also am using IMAP exclusively and I'm running my own IMAP server (Cyrus 2.3.16 64-bit) on a UNIX host here at my office.
Perhaps we too can compare notes (as I have full access to the server logs). The trouble is I don't speak "IMAP" too well so would appreciate specific questions relating to the IMAP protocol if required when I check the logs.
