I see this problem with some regularity. It seems to depend on the email provider. You need to play with Account/Properties/Mail Management/For Pre-defined folders Use … And then after you see where sent mail or trash goes then you can hide any extra folders in "Manage IMAP Folders". Some accounts depending on the provider seem to work well and others are more difficult. I have no proof of this, but it may even complicate things by opening accounts in 2 different email clients as they may create new folders as well.
