I'm using a german keyboard too, so it must be a misunderstanding.
If there're  unread messages left in the actual folder a

<Ctrl> + "The key between '�' and 'Backspace'"

should bring you to the next unread message unless you haven't defined
that combo through an other program as system-hotkey (I know there are
keyboard-mapper in the wild which could disturb the correct function
of keystrikes within TB!).
