If one wants to delete the attachment (you can chose delete from the menu and you're asked for confirmation) then it should be deleted. No matter what you think if this makes sense or not. I keep all my files 'out of TB!'. Keeping the message, e.g. with the name of the file in the subject, let's you track when it arrived, as you keep the headers, which of course doesn't make it useless. Maybe to you, but not for others.
