There's always been a bug where if you're looking at a message in a folder via the preview pane and you're sorting on created date that if another message comes in it would take away the focus. This was always bothersome but it's worse with the new beta.
Now, if you also sort to a different folder on read messages, it not only takes away the focus but also sends it away to the filtered folder. Since I filter to many different folders from this one folder I've had it take messages away before I noticed what "group" it acme from and had a hard time figuring out where it went. The things you seem to have to have to recreate are this: - Be in a folder that filtered messages are sent to. - Be using preview pane mode. - Messages in folder sorted by ascending creation time. - Filter set to move message to a different folder when read. - Then have a message with an earlier created date than the one you're currently viewing come in.
