TheBat has a long-standing html bug. I reported it many months ago.
It does not process the BASE construct. So later URLs are invalid.
and example of the construct in my email is:
<base HREF="http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/";>
and an example of a URL that relies on using the base is:
<a href="6020684.htm">
