I had read your *.* as "." in my Rich Text view.  So I couldn't see
how entering 'e' could be any better than entering '.' as I thought
you had done.

I search for '@' in Sender when I want everything to match - that
should give a 100% match (assuming there will be an '@' in either the
Sender or From).

Then why bother applying a rule at all?  If your filter is hotkey
activated, leave Active and Manual blank, set actions to Park and
Color and, of course, set your hotkey.
