Last night I decided to test The Bat! v2.00. I backed up my The Bat! v1.62r installation (C:\TheBat\*.*) after changing my e-mail accounts settings to keep all mail on the server. I did this just in case The Bat! v2.00 was not as good as The Bat! v1.62r.
I installed The Bat! v2.00 to C:\TheBat and ran it. The Bat! v2.00 retrieved and sent e-mails fine and retained my settings. However, while The Bat! v2.00 sat there running on the Windows XP Home Edition desktop, I kept getting Access Violation Errors without doing anything. The Bat! v2.00 was not set up to check for e-mail at startup nor to check the mail server every X minutes. So I am not sure what could possibly cause those Access Violation Errors. Once I get back to that Windows XP computer, I will see if these errors were logged in the Event Viewer logs. I moved one mail folder above the other and received back to back Access Violation Errors where The Bat! v2.00 eventually locked up and I had to End Process on The Bat! through the Windows XP Task Manager - Processes. After that, I ran The Bat! v2.00 and there were no longer messages in the mail folder that had been selected in The Bat!. There were about 300+ e-mails lost. I ran checker that verifies the integrity of the mail folders and it showed no errors. I am not sure of the name of the window or process as I no longer have The Bat! v2.00 installed. I rely heavily on e-mail every day, part of what I do in my career, and I had to delete the C:\TheBat directory and restore The Bat! v1.62r installation.
