The Uniform Resource Locator. The location of a particular webpage or
another file on the internet.

HTTP URLs can also contain additional elements, like a query string
(placed after the path and separated from it by a question mark (?))
containing information from a HTML form with method=get, or a name tag
(placed after the path and separated from it by a sharp mark (#))
giving the location within a hypertext page to display. FTP URLs often
contain a port number.

IMHO what you call the URL is just the domain.

It sure is beyond the DNS, because that one serves only the domain
names.

The reason I do not agree is that a query or a file name can contain
umlauts, the the query or file name will still be successful.

I only know what was said on the webpages I psoted previously.
