Dierk is correct. Just tried it for myself. You have to restart TB to get the reminder. This is feasible, one just has to know it. Still, a more frequent birthday check would be desirable, e.g. when you rarely shut down TB and use Standby or Hibernate most of the time. Maybe this could be put on some kind of wishlist for upcoming versions.
