Sure, but if there are no filters, <escape> refreshes* the list
(using preview pane only of course). This does make some sense
from a user point of view: if you think the list is incomplete
because of filtering or whatever, press <escape>.
Esc is the Universal key for getting you back where you were before or
to get you out of something you opened. So you open a Window or panel
and escape it by hitting escape. You quickly apply a quick filter to
the message list by alt-clicking on an item in the message list. You
now have only 5 messages. You wish to get back where you were before,
i.e., seeing all messages, so you unapply the filter so you escape it.
Esc is a nice key for that. I actually discovered that key intuitively
in that context.
However, refreshing a folder list by hitting Esc doesn't cut it
Januk. :) You're not escaping anything or undoing anything. You simply
wish to _refresh_, or reapply what you've done.
If you look at it as a list 'reset' button, it isn't so bad. So
long as the ESC button continues to be an all purpose button, I
wouldn't oppose additional functionality.
Only if it doesn't fly in the face of what expect the button to
otherwise do.
To 'exit the window', hit the _enter_ key. :) I guess this could be
made to happen but .....
