If you're unable to connect to the server then there's likely a
problem with the connection rather than TB!. Are you running a
firewall with application protection that could be messing things up
for you?

IMAP is working fine here. I installed the beta at work yesterday and
was also using it without problems and I'm the one who used
ThunderBird for a long time at work since TB!'s IMAP wasn't up to
working well with my connection at work.

I'd stop looking towards TB! and instead at another cause, unless
you're getting a server negotiation that's failing. However, it seems
that you're not even able to reach the server.
