Whenever new message arrive in an IMAP folder, the following happens: 1. Message pane blanks out while fetching the new headers (or whatever you have your sync prefs set to). This could take seconds and is irritating because you can't continue to read the message you were reading.
2. The message list pane refreshes by defocusing the selected message line, moving the entries down, pasting in the freshly synced messages, putting the focus back on the message you're reading. 3. The message you were reading appears again so you can finally continue to read. Irritating... -- Regards, Charles.
